Canoing In the Hocking Hills
The Hocking River runs its 95 mile length from Lancaster, Ohio (Fairfield County) to the Ohio River in Hockingport, Ohio in Athens County. One private canoe livery and a canoe ramp is located in Logan. There are additional launch ramps and accesses along the 95 mile length along with parking areas and pull offs. There are falls area near the Ohio Route 664 bridge in Logan which must be avoided. There is also a dam located five miles south of Ohio Route 691 in Nelsonville, and also White’s Mill Dam that is located below the Ohio Route 56 bridge in Athens. 2 launch ramps and boat tie-ups for picnicking fishermen are located at four of the many picnic areas in the park. There are also canoe rentals.
